Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid in Atlanta on November 5th!

Volkswagen has decided to enter the hybrid world with its all new 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid. The Jetta Hybrid will be available at our Atlanta Volkswagen dealership in Union City, GA during the month of October. Heritage Volkswagen of South Atlanta will be promoting these new “green” cars with discounted prices and events. So is this the Volkswagen model you have been waiting for?
The all new VW Jetta Hybrid sports a turbocharged 1.4-liter direct-injected four-cylinder TSI with 150 horsepower. We expect the 2013 Jetta Hybrid to achieve a combined fuel economy of 45 mpg. This would put its city mileage in the 47-50 mpg range. The Jetta Hybrid also comes with an additional 27 horsepower 20 kW electric motor in the rear. The 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid can be used in pure electric mode at a top speed of around 45 mph. Interestingly enough, when the VW is at a complete stop, the gasoline engine is stopped while the electric engine solely takes over, saving you on gas mileage.
That’s not the only innovation that makes this hybrid special. In freeway conditions, the Jetta Hybrid runs mostly on its gasoline engine and supports a regenerative braking system to help recharge its lithium-ion battery. This system feeds kinetic energy spent by the breaking system back into the battery.
Early expert reviews have stated that the new 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid is on a different level when it comes to performance on the road. The new VW Jetta trim is much more than just a hybrid upgraded fuel efficient monster. Volkswagen has placed an emphasis on making the hybrid a sporty and more aggressive handling vehicle. All the credit goes to its 7-speed DSG transmission that can even be performed manually using the shifter.
Interestingly enough, the new Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid also holds the world speed record for hybrids. This feet was achieved this year at the infamous Bonneville Salt Flats when it reached 185 mph. The car was modified to meet SCTA regulations, but it is safe to say that the hybrid is redefining the performance standards of hybrid vehicles. A quote from motortrend.com when describing the Jetta Hybrid straight-line performance said, “[o]ne full-throttle launch chuffed the front tires - you wouldn't quite call it a "chirp" - and they slipped a bit on the pavement. VW claims a 0-60 mph time under 9.0 seconds, the best for a compact hybrid. I'd guess that's conservative.”
So does the new Jetta Hybrid look like its predecessors? The answer is no! Thanks to a few exterior modifications, the Jetta Hybrid will be noticeably different than its gas and diesel ancestors. First, a rear spoiler and diffuser have been added to decrease drag. Volkswagen reports that these features should reduce drag by as much as 10%. Secondly, the new VW Hybrid will come with 15-inch tires designed to induce low rolling resistance.
The Jetta Hybrid may have outstanding remarks for its performance and exterior, but how does its interior rate? One key difference from other Jetta models is in the instruments and display. Drivers can choose between multiple driver selects. For instance, when “Hybrid” is selected, you can see what mode you are using and the charge of the battery when in use. This new display also allows you to see the “ePower meter” which indicates how much power is being produced by the motor in each different drive mode.
The Jetta Hybrid will be offered in three different trim levels, all of which will carry standard Volkswagen features such as Bluetooth, satellite radio, and LED lights. Optional features include the new VW Fender sound system, xenon headlights, navigation, a rear camera, and much more.
